The Mars Metal Company® (MarShield, Mars Metal & MarsKeel Technology) is proud to be sponsoring “Beautiful You : Sea, Sand & Surf”, a beach themed fund raising event to be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 and organized by Diva’s Changing Lives in support of “The Camisole Project”. The Diva’s are a non-profit fundraising group made up of professional, caring women who are committed to transforming the lives of people in our community. Established in 2012 by Sharon Jackman and Lynn Beechey, the organization is supported by a volunteer committee of women who are all very passionate about doing what they can to change the lives of people in our community.
The Diva’s put on a “Beautiful You Event” each year and are celebrating 5 years raising funds for “The Camisole Project”. BodyMed Boutique, founder of “The Camisole Project”, is providing a free post-surgical camisole to every woman who is having breast cancer surgery at hospitals in the GTA including Mississauga, Oakville , Burlington, Milton, Hamilton, and the Niagara Region. The camisole helps women to feel better about themselves and make them as comfortable as possible during treatment and recovery. Barb Daize, owner of BodyMed Boutique, having been touched in many ways by breast cancer wanted to pay it forward and provide comfort and dignity to those women having breast cancer surgery.
Breast cancer has affected many women close to the Mars Metal family and we are thankful for the great work the Diva’s do ! Being in the medical imaging and nuclear medicine industry, we understand the importance of these charities and will continue our support efforts for many years to come. This annual fundraiser also raises money for the YWCA ENCORE program and Knitted Knockers of Canada. The Encore program is run through the YWCA offering free services to women who have undergone surgery and provides them an opportunity to learn exercises, health nutrition and most of all benefit from the support of other women. Knitted Knockers of Canada provide free soft comfortable lightweight breast prosthesis for women who have undergone mastectomies or other procedures to the breast.
